FarmShare Launch Continues

April 4, 2016

This weekend, amidst crowds of shoppers escaping some seriously blustery April weather, we set up a colorful info kiosk at the Maine Mall, our latest partner in the Lakeside Family FarmShare program. We’ll be delivering boxes of fresh veggies to mall employees and visitors, every Friday afternoon, July 1-November 18. Sign up for yours today and spread the word!mall kiosk 2

We are also excited to be solidifying the details of our deliveries in Bangor and Brewer. We will be delivering to the Eastern Maine Medical Center, Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems, and a downtown location, to be determined. Stay tuned and please get in touch if you live or work in Bangor or Brewer and want to sign up for a share and/or help us spread the word.

It’s been lovely meeting and hearing from our new Maine Med sharemembers. We got to sit at an info table in the Café there several times over the last few weeks and had lots of interesting conversations about gardening, illness & nutrition, what to do with rutabagas, and how to eat well when you’re crazy busy and on a budget.

We were also thrilled to donate a FarmShare to the Boys and Girls Club of Southern Maine’s annual Spring for the Kids auction fundraiser, which took place in Portland this past Friday (who’s the lucky winner?!). We’re glad to support a good cause and help one more family eat fresh and local this season.

At this writing it’s in the 20s and snowing, but the seeds are ordered (including several new things Stew’s planting just for the lucky FarmShare members!). So as the robins say: cheer up! The magic of spring in Maine is upon us and summer salads with Lakeside veggies are right around the corner…
