Online Farmers’ Market in York

November 11, 2012
Chard cannot be killed!

Swiss Chard and Frost: What doesn’t kill it only makes it sweeter.

Now that we’ve obviously mastered the concept of blogging, we’re moving on to new frontiers in cutting edge technology…the online farmers market! We’ll be bringing all sorts of delicious food (see below) down to York on the Monday before Thanksgiving (11/19) and you can order it online! We’ll be delivering things to the York Hospital at lunchtime, and again at 4:30-5:30, so swing by and pick up your box of stuff just in time to start cooking.

Here’s how it works:

1) Head over to our online market page (

2) Check out what we’re selling by selecting the ‘All Items’ link on the left…(or just click here.) We’ll be offering all of our winter vegetables like squash, potatoes, cold hardy greens, cabbage, parsnips, carrots, etc., plus our maple syrup and preserves like Zucchini Relish and Tomato Passatta, plus some additional offerings from a few of our friends like apples and cider from the Meyerhans and all sorts of delicious cheese from Karen at KBK.

3) If you see something you’d like, register with the site and fill up your shopping cart with your order.  We’ll take your payment when you come pick up the veggies, so no need to pay at this point. After you check out online, the magic of the internet sends all the details to us here at the farm and we choose the cream of the veggie crop to fill your order.

4) Come to the York Hospital (we’ll set up near the cafeteria) on Monday (11/19) at 12:00-1:00 pm or 4:30-5:30 and pick up your food!

This system has a few really clear benefits over other delivery methods. For us, it’s great to know exactly how much produce to bring (no waste!), have a short pickup window (no waiting!), and it’s a great excuse to come say hi to all the friendly faces we met at the markets this summer. For the customer, it’s a convenient way to get all sorts of local food in just one stop, just stop in and get your box!

Drop us a line if it gets confusing and we’ll walk you through it.

Here’s to technology!
